Norwalk, CT, January 23, 2012 — The Fairfield County Chapter of The American Marketing Association (AMA) is hosting its ninth annual “The Best of the Super Bowl Ads,” an educational and entertaining critique of the best commercials from Super Bowl XLVI, at the Sheraton Four Points, 426 Main Avenue, Norwalk, CT, on Thursday, February 9, 2012, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
The countdown clock for Super Bowl XLVI is ticking with the kickoff scheduled for Sunday, February 5 at 6:30 PM EST. What started 46 years ago as the football national championship game has evolved into a marketing and media mega-event that is embraced by virtually all sectors of the economy:
• Retailers are promising that TVs sold between now and February 5 will be set up prior to kickoff
• More avocados are purchased just prior to Super Bowl Sunday than at any other time of the year
• And Super Bowl Sunday is NOT the day to get married!
Most important, the Super Bowl is no longer a game viewed solely in the man-caves of U.S. households. It's a family event and a party occasion! For many viewers, the advertisements and half-time entertainment far eclipse the actual game.
To help you navigate the ins and outs of the commercials from Super Bowl Sunday, we've assembled our own first-class panel that includes marketing and advertising professors, an advertising agency exec and a college student to share their opinions and critique the best and the worst of the Super Bowl ads. The panel will be moderated by Richard Perrone, Senior Marketing Manager at IBM and AMA Fairfield County Board Member.
